All around the world, local leaders with a vision to make a difference have started organizations to address the needs of those they long to serve – women, differently-abled, the poor, children, beggars. As Nicholas D Kristof indicated in his book ‘Half the Sky’, these locally lead (grassroots) organizations are one of our most powerful weapons in addressing the needs of our world.
And yet not all of these organizations see the results that they dream of. Too many leaders end up burnt out, overwhelmed by money problems or struggling to know how to really have the impact they desire. Often their attention is scattered as they try to implement 10-30 initiatives. Too many of these initiatives don’t actually lead towards the purpose of the organization but were taken on because their leader saw a need and wanted to help, or because they just don’t know what to do and something seemed better than nothing. Too often funds are short. Leaders can easily end up tired, lonely and under-supported. Not every board knows how to bring leaders the support that they need.
Thrive Global Consulting believes that the best way to make a difference is to help these local nonprofits to succeed. To walk with them and help them get on a path that sees them thriving. We believe that as each of these local organizations are successful in what they are focusing on, we will see poverty and suffering addressed. Some organizations walk with us for a season, perhaps just one or two consulting visits. Others become partners in a long term journey. For a few, we establish partnered projects that we help to fund, oversee and support.
